1.         SCRIPTURE VERSE FOR THE WEEK: MATTHEW 4:23

“And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people” Matthew 4:23

EDITOR: Last week we saw that God’s desire is for us to be well! In the above Scripture we see that Jesus healed wherever He went! My question is, if the people were eating healthier than we are today, praying over their meals, following the so called ‘new diet’ God allowed them to eat in Genesis 9:3, etc, why were there so many sick amongst them?

2.         HEALTH TIP FOR THE WEEK: WATER CONSUMPTION

The body cannot store water and so it needs to be replenished regularly throughout the day. The body loses water through sweat, urine, faeces and moist exhalent breath. Where should you obtain your water? Unfortunately due to the aluminium, lead, nitrates and trihalomethanes in our drinking water, it is best to find a more healthier source of this life sustaining fluid! But, take note that whichever of the healthier water options you decide on, you need to make sure that your diet includes plenty of green vegetables, nuts and seeds and take a good multi-mineral and vitamin supplement.

EDITOR: For years I found it very difficult drinking water, but by God’s grace He has helped me to get used to drinking at least 4-5 glasses of water during winter and up to 8 glasses in summer. Colin and I are blessed to have a reverse osmosis water filter system but we still need to ensure that we get plenty of raw fruit and vegetables which also contain plenty of water (see chart below)

Percentage of Water in selected foods

3.         HOME REMEDY HINT FOR THE WEEK: BLADDER INFECTION

To remove bladder infections take 2 tbsp. cinnamon powder and 1 tsp honey in a glass of lukewarm water. Drink it to destroy germs in the bladder.

EDITOR:I have known for a long time that honey has tremendous potential for healing and a while back found that cinnamon is just as widely known for healing properties, so today I would like to share another tip with you! I believe that God knew what He was doing when He created bees in such a way that they make honey, not only for their own benefit, but also for the benefit of man!

4.         HOUSEHOLD HINT FOR THE WEEK: CLEAN HANDS

Tomato juice will remove stains from and whiten the hands.

EDITOR: We have not been using tomato sauce now for years unless I make it myself, which is not often as we do not normally use tomato sauce, but here is an interesting household hint for the use of tomato sauce, try it you might just be surprised!

PS On 18/1/09 I shared a tip on using a chalkboard eraser to clean fogged up windows, well we have one in our car and it works very well!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
5.         QUOTE FOR THE WEEK: THOUGHT, LANGUAGE & ACTION
Thought is the blossom; language the bud; action the fruit behind it – Ralph Waldo Emerson
EDITOR: Wow, this is good and so true! It reinforces the Scripture where Jesus says that we should submit our thoughts under His authority rather than camping on them, especially if they are not Godly thoughts, which are pure, hole, righteous, full of virtue and edifying!
6.             ARTICLE FOR THE WEEK: DIABETES/DIET LINK TO ALZHEIMER’S
A Japanese research team has revealed an interesting link between Type-2 diabetes and changes in the brain that can lead to Alzheimer’s disease. The researchers said signs of Type-2 diabetes (such as insulin resistance) may contribute to the formation of neuritic plaques, disrupting signaling within and between brain cells. At this point, the symptoms of dementia might begin to become evident. Type-2 diabetes is most often a diet-induced condition and is often directly related to obesity. We have encountered many, many people who have told us that their symptoms of Type-2 diabetes have drastically diminished or simply disappeared after reducing or eliminating their intake of processed foods and switching to a primarily raw, plant-based diet… which, apparently, has more benefits than we realize. In fact, study researcher Kensuke Sasaki, MD, PhD said, “It’s possible that by controlling or preventing diabetes, we might also be helping to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.” It is also well known that heart attack, stroke, blindness, amputation, and kidney failure can also happen when blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol are out of control.
Type 2 Diabetes May Have Link to Alzheimer's
Study Shows Insulin Resistance May Raise Risk of Brain Plaques Associated With Alzheimer's by Denise Mann (Reviewed by Laura J Martin, MD) Aug 25, 2010 — People with insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes may be at increased risk for developing telltale brain plaques that are closely linked to Alzheimer's disease, a study shows. The new findings, which appear in the Aug 25 issue of Neurology, may give more evidence of the connection between diabetes and Alzheimer's disease. In insulin resistance, the hormone insulin, produced by the pancreas, becomes less effective in lowering blood sugar.  People with insulin resistance are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. "Type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer's disease are two epidemics growing at alarming levels around the world," says study researcher Kensuke Sasaki, MD, PhD, with Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan, in a news release. "With the rising obesity rates and the fact that obesity is related to the rise in type 2 diabetes, these results are very concerning."
Checking for Signs of Alzheimer's
In the new study, 135 Japanese men and women underwent diabetes screening tests in 1988 and were followed for up to 15 years for signs of Alzheimer's disease. Overall, 16% showed signs of clinical Alzheimer's disease before they died; 65% of people in the study also showed evidence of plaques in their autopsied brains after death. People who had abnormal results on their blood sugar tests were more likely to have plaques in their brain, the study shows. This relationship was more pronounced among people who also had a form of the ApoE gene that's been linked to a higher risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. There was no link between insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes and risk for developing brain tangles, another brain abnormality seen with Alzheimer's disease, the study shows. "Further studies are needed to determine if insulin resistance is a cause of the development of these plaques," Sasaki says. If it is,"it's possible that by controlling or preventing diabetes, we might also be helping to prevent Alzheimer's disease." The new study "supports the hypothesis that insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes is causally related to a higher risk of dementia including Alzheimer's disease," writes Jose A Luchsinger, MD, MPH, in an accompanying editorial.
More studies are needed to figure out precisely how the conditions are connected, he writes. "This is urgent considering that over half of the US population in the age group most at risk for cognitive impairment has prediabetes or Type 2 diabetes," he writes. Some current trials are looking at how available insulin-sensitizing drugs affect cognitive impairment.
EDITOR’S NOTE: In last week’s health tip I shared a portion from the book I am reading God Wants You Well by Andrew Wommack, where he says that people think having these diseases, ailments or sickness is natural! There is nothing natural about being diseased! It is from the pit of hell and the sooner we see this and change our lifestyles the better! Eating food that contains LIVE enzymes, minerals, vitamins etc, the quicker we will realise that there is a better, healthier, vibrant life to live and we can live it in good health till it is time to go home to Jesus!
Controlling Weight Gain
September 01, 2010 By: Kathy Cotterrell Category: Articles
If you are really sincere about weight loss and staying healthy, then go to a plant based, not an animal based diet. The weight will come off and you will prolong your life. Consider this:
1. Almost all poultry has been factory farmed using a growth additive that cuts maturity in half thus plumping up the chickens for market faster and this will not only put weight on you, but make you unhealthy.
2. The growth hormones in milk and dairy products are for baby cows not people. They will not only cause weight gain, constipation and mucous formation but also premature menstruation and breast development in young girls and are a precursor for breast cancer.
3. Two recent books speak to these issues and more and are a must read: "The China Study" and "Setting Yourself Apart From the Seeds of Cancer".
