HEALTHY HOT CHOCOLATE by Rhonda Malkmus

November 13, 2011 By: Kathy Cotterrell Category: Healthy Recipes

Hot chocolate is something many people, especially children, enjoy — especially on a cold day after school or evenings together by the fireplace with the family! But there are a number of unhealthy issue with hot chocolate: (1) it contains cow milk and (2) it contains chocolate and (3) often contains refined sugar, and there is something wrong with them all. Cow milk is extremely mucous forming, chocolate contains theobromine (a form of caffeine), and refined sugar compromises the immune system. Here's a better solution!

1 cup almond milk (store bought or homemade)

1 Tbsp carob powder

1 tsp raw unfiltered honey

1 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of Celtic Sea Salt (optional)

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Heat in sauce pan on low heat setting until warm. Make sure you don’t let it boil, or you will destroy the enzymes, thus destroying its life force and some of its nutrients

FRUIT & NUT BREAKFAST

November 05, 2011 By: Kathy Cotterrell Category: Healthy Recipes

Colin and I often make fruit moose for Saturday morning breakfast treats which we eat 30mins after having our BarleyLife, vit B12 and carrot juice, so here is one of the recipes, but please take note that this should not be a regular breakfast as fruit and nuts should not be eaten together, it is just a treat:

1 small pawpaw (papaya)

4-6 bananas (depending on the size)

1-2 pears

1-2 apples

¼ cup raw almonds

¼ cup raw walnuts

¼ cup raw hulled sunflower seeds

Blend all together until smooth, put into bowls or like we do in glasses with a cut banana or crushed nuts as garnish.

NOTE: This can change depending on which fruit you have in the house, but remember that acid and sweet fruits do not digest well together. If interested in the combinations, let me know at info@f4l.co.za and I will forward the list to you.
